Tropical amaranthus or siru keerai poriyal with the combination of toor dal poriyal is a perfect dish for rice and sambar or the sambar done with boiled green leaf tea gives a perfect taste for rice varieties and it is very easy to make for house wives.

STEP : 1
Initially wash the plucked siru keerai from the bunch and toor dal(thuvaram paruppu) and add two cups of water and cook it for 10 to 15 minutes.
STEP : 2
Add a pinch of turmeric while cooking dal and siru keerai in a small pan,once the dal is get cooked keep it in a separate plate.
STEP : 3
Now take a blender add half cup of coconut pieces and blend it twice or thrice.(Note:wash the green leafs atleast twice or thrice to remove the impurities).

After blending the coconut pieces keep it in a separate jar to add blended coconut pieces in a poriyal. If you don't want you can omit the coconut.

Now to prepare poriyal we need the ingredients are green chilies,small onion pieces,garlic and curry leaves.You can also add a pinch of hing or asafoetida.

Now place a pan and heat oil,add mustard seeds and let it splutter for few second.You can also add a pinch of a cumin seeds along with mustard seeds.

Now add a few curry leaves and green chilies,you can also add dry red chilies and now roast them for few seconds.

Now crushed the garlic into the roasted item and add half cup of chopped onion pieces and saute it well for few seconds.

Now add the cooked siru keerai roasted and thoor dal in a roasted item and mix it well,until the roasted items blended with the cooked greens and thoor dal.

Add the blended coconut along with the cooked items and add a tablespoon of salt or as per your taste and mix all this well.Now our green siru keerai sabzi or poriyal is read to serve for the combination of rice,sambar,rice and rasam.
