- 5.50 Cup Fine Rava
- 0.75 Cup Split Yellow Gram
- 0.25 tbsp Pepper Seeds
- 0.50 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 0.50 tbsp Ginger Chopped
- 1.00 no Green Chilly
- 4.00 no Curry Leaves
- 0.25 tbsp Coriander Leaves
- 3.00 tbsp Ghee
- 0.75 tbsp Salt
- 6.00 no Cashew Nuts
Instructions
Rava Pongal Recipe
- Heat a pan add the measured level of split yellow gram,roast them well till the light reddish brown color appears.
- Then add the roasted gram to a pressure cooker add enough water and a pinch of turmeric powder, brings them to boil for six to seven whistles till it gets mashy.
- At this meanwhile add the rava to a pan and roast them by adding one tbsp of ghee, do not over burn, better roast in medium flame.
- Then transfer the roasted rava to a plate and brings them cool, Now heat a pan then add remaining ghee over them and add half tbsp of cumin seeds and quarter tbsp of pepper seeds,and roast them well.
- Then add fine chopped ginger slices,one lengthy chopped green chilly, cashew nuts and some curry leaves with them and saute them in medium flame.
- Then add enough water for them which is 2:1 ratio, here i used 1,1/2 cup rava and 3/4 cup of split gram, so i have added 4 and 1/2 cups of water, and also adjust salt at this stage.
- When the water starts to boil now add the dry roasted and well boiled yellow gram with them and stir well, while boil the gram if stock water appears, you can adjust that water with plain water.
- After few seconds add the roasted rava with them and stir well, and carefully without lumps formation, now it comes little water, and stir them well till it gets tender state.
- The pongal comes to little liquid give some boiling time to get tender state, and do not keep them till it gets dry.
- Now it obtains the right state to remove from flame, then garnish some coriander leaves over them, then serve hot with tasty chutney or sambar.
