STEP : 1
Wash the potato and peel it and cut it into small cubes. Wash the pumpkin and peel it and cut it into cubes as shown in the image. Boil the bengal gram or chana and set it aside.

Cut the tomato into small cubes. Make a paste of the coconut and ginger. Take the green chili and slit it.

Heat oil in a kadai very well and add the kalonji seeds and fry them till they are turned darker in color.

To the hot oil add the cubed potato and fry them very well till they turn slightly brownish in color.

Once the potato is fried add the tomato and green chili and fry them well till the tomato softens and melts.

To the mixture above add the boiled bengal gram or chana and deep fry them in the oil and mix it well.

Once all the ingredients are blended well add the salt, sugar, turmeric, coconut paste and ginger paste and mix very well and cook for a minute or two.

Once all the ingredients are cooked and blended add the pumpkin cubes and mix them very well and stir for 3-4 minutes.

Once the pumpkin is fried add a cup of water to t he mixture and cook it in simmer by covering with a lid. Once the gravy is dried and pumpkin is boiled add the cardamom paste and serve hot with chapati.
