South Indian Style Healthy Flavourful Potato Peas Masala For Kids
A potato peas masala is tasty side dish of breakfast or lunch. This is prepared by south indian style, potato is a main ingredient of this recipe. It is used to increase fiber level.
Ingredients
Potato Peas Masala
- 4.00 nos Potatoes
- 1.00 cup Green peas
- 2.00 nos onion
- 3.00 nos tomatoes
- 2.00 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2.00 nos cloves
- 2.00 nos cardamom
- 1.00 nos elachi
- 1.00 tbsp green zeera
- 1.00 tbsp khuskhus
- 2.00 nos dry chilies
- 1.00 tbsp roasted chana
- 0.50 cup grated coconut
- 2.00 tbsp red chilly powder
- 2.00 tbsp coriander powder
- 0.25 tbsp garam masala powder
- 0.50 cup oil
- 5.00 nos curry leaves
- 1.50 tbsp salt
- 1.00 tbsp coriander leaves
Instructions
Potato Peas Masala
- For Grinding: In a mixer jar add 1/2 cup of grated coconut,green-zeera (sombu),cloves-2,cardamom-2,elachi-1,and roasted red chilly,1 tbsp of roasted channa,and make a fine paste
- In a pressure cooker add 3 tbsp of refined oil,add 1 tbsp of sombu,and then add two medium sized fine chopped onion.saute the onion till it turns into brown color,
- When the onion color turns add 2 tbsp of ginger garlic and one green chilly on to that,mix well and saute for two minutes till the removing the raw smell of ginger garlic paste
- when it well saute,add three medium size ripe tomatoes which was finely sliced into it,mix well and smashed the tomatoes till the tomato get boiled,
- when the tomatoes are well smashed add the three medium size skin peeled and medium cut potatoes and add the green peas (if you also adding the dried green peas after soak in water for 4 hours),mix well,
- Then now is the time to add powder masala such as 2 tbsp of red chilly powder,2 tbsp of coriander powder and 1/4 tbsp of garam masala powder,
- After adding these masala,mix well and and add needed salt for that gravy and adjust the needed water for pressure cook boiling,
- Then close the cooker lid and keep boil for 4 to 5 whistles in high flame,after these remove from flame when the pressure completely comes out open the lid and keep boiling in slow fire,at this stage add the grounded coconut paste in to that gravy,
- After boiling for 5 minutes in slow fire,add the curry leaves and coriander leaves on it and switch off the fire,now the potato and peas kuruma is ready to serve and best companion with parathas,roti/dosa varieties.
