Thank you so much - I tried this recipe yesterday and the taste was super awesome. Though we have made this moong dal payasam at home many times(with regular milk) earlier it tastes great but this time it's awesome - the highlight I think was the coconut milk and coconut pieces garnishing. If u add dry ginger powder and cumin powder along with cardamom it will taste more good. When my wife was pregnant...! she craved this so much. Yummmmm....a must, every time, whenever Mom prepares sadya at home. Made in traditional uruli (a wide mouthed, heavy bottom pan) and eaten while still warm served on plantain leaf at end of sadya....its heaven. Moong dal payasam is a traditional South Indian variety & is also known as paruppu payasam or parippu payasam Its also made exactly same way in Kerala. Similar way we can make broken wheat and chana Dal payasam...too gud. It's also called Hesaru bele payasa in Karnataka. Paysam is Sanskrit word of kher, isn't it? Kheer and payasam are the terms that refer to Indian puddings mostly cooked with milk. I tried it..it was excellent....
