Ashoka alwa recipe is a special recipe tanjavur region,As I become hosur these recipe is unknown to us i thought the recipe is quite complicated and is very rare dessert in our area ,my hubbies favourite dish of sweet.

Ingredients of Moong dal ka halwa

1.00 cup Moong dal
2.00 tbsp Wheat flour
1.50 cup Sugar
0.50 no Food colour
1.00 tbsp Cardamom powder
10.00 no Cashew nuts
1.00 cup Ghee

Moong dal ka halwa

To prepare a ashoka halwa the following ingredients are moong dal,sugar,ghee ,initially roast the moong dhal with a tablespoon of ghee .

Now take a wheat flour,dry fruits like cashew nuts,raisins,food colour,cardamom powder,adding cardamom gives a nice aroma to our delicious ashoka alwa.

Take a non stick tawa after gets it light heat add one cup of water to softened the moongdhal dont add too much of water,infact adding sugar becomes watery.

Now add a ghee roasted moong dhal in to a boiling water and fry it till becomes smooth and soft,if does not cooks well you can also grind it in a blender.

when moong dal becomes soft stir it continuously and make it a nice paste ,without any lumps stir it again for a thin paste.

after become a thin paste add one and half cup sugar mix well without any formation of lumps as i already said adding sugar is quite enough of adding excess of water.

Take a small pan add two tablespoon of ghee,when it melts add cashew nuts and raisins till it changes golden colour,adding excess of ghee gives a nice taste to our sweet halwa.

In a same pan ,dry roast the wheat flour without any formation of lumps.adjust a ghee to the wheat flour and roast it till raw smell goes.

In a blended moong dal add food colour if it requires,i have added orange food colour and mix it well,you can also add red food colour for the delicious colour.

after adding a colour,now add the half cup of ghee and mix it. well till the ghee oozes on top and also it reaches non sticky stage

Add the roasted wheat flour paste and a pinch of elaichi powder stir it continuously,you can add excess wheat flour as per your requirement.
