Methi paratha is a delicious paratha recipe which is most popular in the northern parts of India. Methi leaves have numerous health benefits and it has lots of nutrients bound in it.
It is good for kids and for new mothers as it helps in stimulation of breast milk. Methi leaves have many medicinal properties which heals the mouth ulcers and is a good source of iron and so it helps to cure anemia in kids and adults.
It is a real challenge for us to make our kids eat green leafy vegetables and spinach. So hiding it inside their regular food is the best option to make them consume it.
Methi paratha is such a recipe where you can hide the goodness of methi leaves inside your regular wheat flour paratha.
Making the best methi paratha
I prepare methi paratha in many variations. But trust me this is the best version which you can serve for kids and they will empty their plates very soon.
So yes let's come to our today’s recipe. In this recipe I am using freshly ground coriander leaves and green chilli.
I am grinding it because my kids don’t need any side dishes for this roti. They eat it all alone because of the good flavour of coriander leaves and green chilli.
You can also add some grated ginger while making the dough, which is more good for health. You can also add ajwain or cumin seeds to improve the flavour. I am not adding anything today because I am making the simplest methi paratha today.
As like making normal chapati dough, this dough should also be very soft and you have to give at least half an hour resting time to the dough before making roti.
You may also grind methi leaves instead of chopping. I don’t prefer grinding as it will give a bitterness to the paratha.
This paratha is one of the best lunch box recipes that I pack for my kids often along with some ketchup or fruit jam. You can also make this paratha as a roll by stuffied some aloo masala.
