Lobia Masala
- 1.00 cup Black Eyed Peas
- 2.00 nos Onion
- 3.00 nos Tomato
- 0.75 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2.00 tbsp Red Chilly Powder
- 0.25 tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 0.50 tbsp Cumin Powder
- 0.50 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 2.00 tbsp Oil
- 4.00 tbsp Curry Leaves
Instructions
Lobia Masala
- Rinse and soak the black eyed peas(lobia) in water for eight hours, drain and add into a pressure cooker and brings to boil till four whistles
- When the black eyed peas gets boiled,drain out the stock water and keep them aside
- Take two medium sized onions and three well ripen tomatoes and wash them and chop as fine slices,and bring some curry leaves
- Heat a cooking pan then add some oil with them,when it gets heat now sizzle some cumin seeds with them
- Then add fine chopped onions and some curry leaves sprig with them and saute well till the light brown colors appears
- When it gets well saute then add one and half tbsp of ginger garlic paste with them,stir well till the raw smell goes out
- Then add well ripen and chopped tomato slices with them,stir well till it gets completely smashed
- Then add the powdered ingredients such as red chilly powder,turmeric powder,and some cumin powder with them,stir well
- Then add the pressure cooked black eyed peas with them and stir well for few seconds
- Then add enough salt for them and stir well for few minutes till the added oil ooze outs,aware about if you add salt for boil the lobia
- Then add needed water for them,and stir well,we are already pressure cooked the lobia so that,no need to boil them for more times
- Close the lid and brings to boil for five to six minutes,till the gravy comes little tender
- Then open the lid, and smash some peas to get tender curry and boil them for two minutes
- Now the lobia masala curry is ready to serve by garnishing some coriander leaves and serve with hot chapathi or with Plain rice.
