STEP : 1
In a mixer take equal parts of chopped coconut and Bengal gram. Add half tsp of salt to the mixture to grind.

STEP : 2
Grind the above mixture very fine. Also add more water for getting the consistency of the Bombay chutney. Keep it aside.

STEP : 3
In a kadai heat oil and add cinnamon and pieces of clove. After frying for a while add chopped onions in the kadai. Fry until it becomes brown.

Add ginger garlic paste and chopped chilies to the onion mixture. Saute well until the raw smell goes off. Add chopped tomatoes.

STEP : 5
Add turmeric powder and salt. Add the ground mixture to the kadai. Keep stirring continuously when adding the paste to avoid forming lumps.

In a mixer take 4 to 5 cashew nuts and grind it into a very fine paste. Add sufficient water to grind.

STEP : 7
Now after stirring the mixture for a while add the cashew paste to it while stirring continuously. Allow it to boil.

STEP : 8
Stir the mixture occasionally and allow it to boil for 5 to 10 mins . add chopped coriander at this stage.

STEP : 9
After boiling for a while, simmer the fire for other 5 mins. The dish is almost ready to serve. Transfer to a bowl.

STEP : 10
Serve Bombay chutney with hot roti or naans. It goes well with idly and dosa also. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve it.
