Ghughni is a very light , tasty and yummy Bengali dish. Its specially a breakfast dish .It is served with luchi or puri. It is made with yellow matar. Its a spicy dish you can prepare this for guests with samosa's.

Ingredients of Ghugni

2.00 cup Dried yellow peas
1.00 cup onion chopped
1.00 tbsp ginger
1.00 tbsp garlic
1.00 cup tomato chopped
0.25 tbsp cumin seeds
0.50 tbsp garam masala powder
0.25 tbsp turmeric powder
0.25 tbsp coriander powder
0.25 tbsp salt
2.00 tbsp mustered oil

Ghughni is made with dried yellow peas. It is a very light , tasty and yummy Bengali dish. Its specially a breakfast dish .It is served with luchi or puri. It is also a street food in Bengal called Ghughni chat.

At first take 2 cups of yellow dried peas. We have to soak the dried peas overnight or if we have less time we can use warm water to soak the yellow peas. Now drain out the water . Take a pressure cooker.

Add the soaked yellow peas in the cooker add water as required for boiling . Add 2 or 3 pinch of salt in it . Now cover the lid and let it be boiled. Pressure cook it in medium heat upto 2 whitsles.

Turn off the gas and keep the cooker under the running cold water. Open the cooker lid and keep them aside. Now take onion and chopped it finely. Take 6 to 8 cloves garlic and 1 inch ginger and chopped them.

Fry the onion till it turns golden brown colour. Now add finely chopped ginger and garlic in the kadhai. Fry them for few seconds. Now add chopped tomatoes in the kadhai and mix the whole ingredient s properly. Add salt as per your taste.

Check the salt if needed add some more salt in it. Now sim the gas and cover it for 10 to 15 mins. After 15 mins open the cover and we can see our ghughni is ready. Now take a bowl take out ghughni in it garnish it with coriander leaves or kasuri methi. Now serve it hot.
