Dry nuts mewa paag is the traditional sweet dish specially made during janmashtami.kids love these sweet snack. It very easy to make and offered as prashad to Lord Krishna.
Ingredients
Dry Nut Preparation
- 2.00 cup Fresh Coconut
- 0.50 cup Ghee
- 0.50 cup melon seeds
- 0.50 cup Peanuts
- 0.25 cup raisins
- 5.00 nos cashewnuts
- 1.00 tbsp poppy seeds
- 2.00 tbsp White sesame seeds
- 10.00 nos badam
Sugar Syrup Preparation
- 1.00 cup Water
- 1.00 cup Sugar
- 5.00 nos green cardamoms
- 0.25 tbsp Salt
Instructions
Dry Nut Preparation
- The key ingredients to prepare mewa paag, grated coconut,peanuts,musk melon seeds,green cardamom,raisins,cashewnuts,poppy seeds,white sesame seeds,almonds,sugar,ghee and salt.
- Add half cup of melon seeds, saute it for few minutes until it gets puffed .
- When it is dry roasted and splutters and starts puffed transfer it in a plate.
- Transfer the another pan,add a tablespoon of ghee and let it melt in a low flame.
- Add two cups of grated coconut, saute the coconut mixture for few minutes and dry roast.
- When it is dry roasted ,slow down the flame then transfer it in a plate.
- Add half cup of peanuts or groundnuts and fry it for few seconds in medium flame.
- When it is dry roasted ,slow down the flame then transfer it in a plate.
- Add half cup of white sesame or black sesame seeds ,dry roast in a low flame.
- When it color changes lightly ,low the flame and transfer it in a seperate plate.
- Add a tablespoon of gasa gasa or poppy seeds and dry roast in a low flame.
- When it color changes lightly ,low the flame and transfer it in a seperate plate.
- In a same pan,add a tablespoon of ghee and let it melt in a low flame.
- Add few badam or almonds in hot ghee and dry roast it for few seconds.
- Add few cashew in hot ghee and dry roast it for few seconds in low flame.
- When it is dry roasted ,slow down the flame then transfer it in a plate.
- Now add the roasted badam and cashews in a masher bowl instead of blending it.
- Mash the nuts using mashing stick for getting the nuts into crunchy small or tiny pieces .
- Add the roasted peanuts along with the crunched nuts to increase the taste of paag.
- After crunching the nuts ,transfer the ingredients in a seperate plate and keep it aside.
- In a same pan,add a tablespoon of ghee and let it melt in a low flame.
- Add half cup of raisins along with the hot ghee and mix it,You can skip it.
- When it is dry roasted ,slow down the flame then transfer it in a plate.
- Add a dry grated coconut along with the syrup and mix it for few seconds.
- Add the roasted musk melon seeds along with the coconut syrup and mix it completely.
- Add the coarsely grounded peanut and nutss mixture along with the sugar syrup and mix it completely.
- Add the roasted white sesame seeds along with the sugar syrup and mix it completely.
- Add a tablespoon of poppy seeds or gasa gasa and mix it continuously for few seconds.
- Add half cup of roasted raisins along with the sweet mixture and mix it,it is optional.
- When everything is complete, turn off the flame,allow the mixture to cool down for few seconds .
- Add a tablespoon of ghee and spread it over all sides along with the plate.
- Add the mewa paag on top of the ghee and spread it evenly on all sides.
- Allow it to dry for 10 to 15 minutes and cut it using knife,Our tasty dry nuts Mewa paag is ready.
Sugar Syrup Preparation
- To make sugar syrup,add a cup of sugar along with the pan or long vessel.
- Add half cup of water and let it dissolve ,donât add too much of water ,let it boil.
- Add finely crunched 3 to 4 green cardamoms and mix it continuously for few seconds.
- Add little bit of salt in a sugar syrup for giving the blended taste for it.
