- 0.75 cup Split Red Gram
- 2.00 nos Onion
- 2.00 nos Tomato
- 4.00 nos Garlic Pods
- 3.00 nos Dried Red Chilly
- 2.00 nos Green Chilly
- 0.75 tbsp Red Chilly Powder
- 0.25 tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 0.75 tbsp Salt
- 0.25 tbsp Hing
- 0.5 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 0.5 tbsp Mustard Seeds
- 5.00 nos Curry Leaves
- 0.5 tbsp Coriander Leaves
- 2.00 tbsp Oil Or Ghee
Instructions
Dal Tadka Recipe
- Rinse thoroughly the measured cup of Split Red gram or your choice of lentils you have selected.
- Add the rinsed red gram into a pressure cooker,then add some chopped onions,chopped tomatoes and sliced green chilies.
- Then add a little pinch of turmeric powder,enough red chilly powder and a generous pinch of hing with them.
- Add enough salt and water with them,and close the lid then brings them to boil for ten minutes till five to six whistles.
- When the pressure releases itself ,open the lid and whisk the boiled gram using a ladle,and keep aside.
- Now heat a tadka pan add some oil,then add 1/4 tbsp of mustard seeds into them.
- Then add quarter tbsp of cumin seeds with them and stir well till it splutters well.
- Then add some crushed garlic pods with them and stir for few seconds in slow fire.
- Then add some dried red chilies with them and stir for few seconds without increasing the fire.
- Then add some curry leaves and some coriander leaves with them and fry for a second.
- Pour the fried herbs and spices over the prepared red gram mixture,then serve hot with hot plain or steamed rice.
