STEP : 1
Wash and clean the chayote. Cut into small pieces. Keep all the other required ingredients ready.

Dice the onions. Meanwhile, soak 1 tablespoon of moong dal in water for about 5 minutes.

Heat oil in a clay pan. Once oil is hot, add half of the diced onions. Saute till the onions turn transparent.

Next, add the remaining onions, diced chayote, soaked moong dal and stir for about 5 minutes. Add curry leaves if required.

Mix all the ingredients well and saute till raw smell disappears. Add required salt and stir for about 5 minutes.

Now, its time to add the spice powders. Add masala powder and the turmeric powder.
STEP : 7
Now, mix all the ingredients well. Add water if required. Close the lid and allow it to cook for about 10 minutes. Once cooked, transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
