This is a Chinese starter preparation made from Bengal Beckti Fish. The fish has to be cut into small cubes and the bones removed before it can be cooked. The cooking time for this is very less and it is either served as a starter or a main course item with fried rice or noodles. For main course it is best when prepared with a little gravy.

Ingredients of Chilli fish recipe

0.50 kg Beckti Fish
2.00 no Onion
0.50 no Capsicum
1.00 tbsp Garlic
1.00 tbsp Spring Onion
2.00 tbsp Soya Sauce
3.00 no Chili
0.50 tbsp Salt
0.25 cup Cornflour
1.00 no Eggs
0.25 tbsp Black Pepper Powder
10.00 tbsp Oil
0.25 tbsp Turmeric

Cut the fish into small cubes, wash and clean it very well. Add salt and turmeric to the fish so that it marinates well before batter frying and does not smell bad.

Chop the onion and garlic into fine long pieces. Chop the spring onion and green chili. Chop the capsicum and keep the soya sauce aside for further cooking.

Make a batter of cornflour, salt, beaten eggs and black pepper powder with a spoon of oil. Mix it very well with the marinated fish.

Add oil in a kadai and heat it.  Add the fish dipped in the batter and fry them till they are golden brown, set aside for cooking.

Keep on stirring the mixture in the kadai for 2-3 minutes.  Add the batter fried fish pieces and the soya sauce into the masala and cook for 2-3 minutes.  Once it is uniformly cooked pour in a serving bowl and add the spring onion as garnishing.
