A Classical Bengali Style Flavourful Side Dish Of Bottle Gourd Dal Curry
A bottle gourd dal curry is best side dish of your family members. This recipe is prepared by bengali style, with spicy. This recipe is served with hot rice or breakfast.
Ingredients
Bottle Gourd Dal Curry
- 1.00 cup moong dal
- 2.00 cup chopped bottle gourd
- 0.25 tbsp turmeric powder
- 0.25 tbsp salt
- 0.25 tbsp ginger
- 0.25 tbsp kalonji seeds
- 2.00 tbsp whole red chili
- 1.00 tbsp ghee
- 3.00 tbsp oil
- 0.50 tbsp coriander leaves
Instructions
Bottle Gourd Dal Curry
- 1. Take 1 cup of moong dal and roast it on a low flame until the colour of moong dal get change into slight pink. Transfer the roasted dal on a bowl and wash it at least for 2 3 times.
- 2. Peel the skin of bottle gourd and cut the pieces of bottle gourd into square pieces. Heat oil on a nonstick pan and add the cubes of bottle gourd and saute it for few minutes.
- On the same non stick pan add 2 cups of water, roasted moong dal, turmeric powder, salt as required, pinch of sugar, œ teaspoon grated ginger and reduce the flame to low and cover the pan with a lid at least for 30 minutes.
- Turn off the flame and transfer the cooked dal to a separate bowl. Now heat oil in a kadai and add kalonji seeds and whole red chili. Saute it for few minutes.
- Now add the boiled moong dal and bottle gourd to the same kadai and mix well. Increase the flame to medium and reduce the excess water from the dal.
- Check the consistency of lau moong dal and add 1 tablespoon of ghee. Turn off the flame and transfer it to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
