  • 6.00 nos Brinjal
  • 0.50 cup poppy seeds
  • 0.25 cup yogurt
  • 4.00 tbsp green chili
  • 2.00 tbsp mustard oil
  • 1.00 tbsp salt
  • 2.00 tbsp pachforon

  • Begun -posto” or brinjal with poppy seeds Is one of the most popular traditional Bengali dish. Begun or brinjals are do delicious in taste send the combo of begun or brinjal and poppy seeds, makes the dish a yummy taste.

  • This dish is very simple and very flavour full.Begun posto means Brinjal cooked in poppy seed paste. We call brinjal baby eggplant also. Brinjal is a very tasty veggie but some peoples have faces allergy from it but i am sure they also like to eat this recipe.

  • Now we started cooking. Take 5 to dix small brinjals /baby egg plant/begun. Wash them properly and cut them into small cubes. Add a pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Toss them and mix them properly .Keep aside to absorb.

  • Mixing salt and turmeric make brinjal soft and now it is absorb the poppy paste easily. Take a bowl and add 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of poppy seeds/ posto in it. let them soak for 1/2 hour.

  • This process is make the seeds so soft and it will be helpful to be grind easily. After 1/2 n hour drain the water from the seeds. Take a mixer jar add the soaked seeds add 2 green chilies in it. Grind it. Make a smooth paste.

  • Take a pan. Add 2 tbsp of mustard oil in it. Add pachforon and let it fry for few seconds. Add the salted and cubed brinjal /begun /baby eggplant. Fry it til it gets light brown colour. Make sure that the brinjals should not over cook.

  • Now add the poppy seed paste .Mix them properly. Make it like it is covered the whole fried brinjal. Add 1 tbsp of yogurt. Mix them. Add salt for taste,turmeric powder and red chili powder. Mix them properly and fry till started leaving oil. It cooked off the gas pour some mustard oil in this. Garnish and searve it.
