A very unique combination of beet root and peas (motorshuti) which has no onion no garlic and also it is a very simple and delicious dish. The colour of beet root gives this dish a beautiful colour and peas (motorshuti) will enhance its taste.

Ingredients of Beetroot poriyal

5.00 no beetroots
0.50 cup peas
1.00 no bayleaves
0.50 tbsp kalonjiseeds
2.00 no greenchili
0.25 tbsp turmericpowder
0.25 tbsp salt
1.00 tbsp gratedginger
0.25 tbsp garammasala
0.25 tbsp drymangopowder
1.00 tbsp ghee
6.00 no cashewnuts
3.00 no almonds

Beetroot poriyal

Wash the beetroot and peel the skin of beetroot and cut it into small size. Also take half cup of matar (peas). I have taken fresh peas if you like you can use frozen peas.

Heat 2 tablespoon of mustard oil in a non-stick pan. add 1 teaspoon of kalonji seeds. 1 bay leaves and 2 green chilli. Sauté it for a minute on low flame.

Now add the chopped beet root and half cup peas and sauté it for few minutes. After that add grated ginger. turmeric powder and salt as require.

Again mix it well. add Πcup of water and cover the non-stick pan with a lid on the low flame at least for 20 minutes. Open the lid and check beet root is completely cooked or not.

Add half teaspoon of garam masala. pinch of sugar. half teaspoon of dry mango powder and 1 tablespoon of ghee and again mix well. Transfer it to a serving bowl and garnish with roasted cashew nuts and almonds.
