Almond milk is one of the best alternatives for people who are vegan lovers. For any kind of smoothies, cakes, milkshakes, coffee etc., you can blindly replace whole fat cow’s milk with almond milk. It won’t differ much in taste.
You may have lots of almonds in your kitchen cupboard and have no idea on how to utilize it. If so, make this almond milk and drink it for good health. You can also feed your kids this almond milk along with their breakfast bowl. That is it tastes good when added in cornflakes, chocos or any other flakes or crisps.
Almond Milk Nutrients and Benefits
Almond milk is rich in vitamin E, and is low in fat and sugar. The most important thing is it is dairy free and suitable for vegan people. If you are on a diet and want to get out of your milk cravings, then almond milk will definitely help you as it is less in calories.
The fat content in almonds is very good for the health of your heart. The store bought almond milk is enriched with calcium which makes your bones stronger.
Almond milk can be given to toddlers too. You can mix it with their daily foods like oats, rice cereals, etc.,
How to Use Almond Milk?
Almond milk has a very nice flavour and so you can drink it just like that or you can add any sweetners of your choice. You can make coffee, milkshakes, smoothies and yes you can definitely use it as a replacer or cow’s milk in anything that you cook. The thing which makes me happy is that we can even make ice creams out of almond milk.
Make any kind of kheer out of almond milk and trust me it tastes heavenly. I also make kulfi out of almond milk as it contains a natural flavour of almonds.
How to Storing Almond Milk?
If you buy store bought almond milk, then you can store it upto 10 days in the refrigerator. If you make it at home, then I recommend you to finish it within 1 or 2 days and make it fresh if you need it.
Because in stores, they pasteurize the milk. At home we may not have the option of pasteurizing in a proper way.
In the below recipe I have prepared the almond milk and also a cereal recipe for babies with almond milk. This recipe is good for babies from the age of 6 months and above.
Ingredients of Almond milk
STEP : 1
Take almonds wash it and soak it in water for 12 hours or overnight.Then take it from water.
STEP : 2
Now remove the skin of almonds and wipe it with a clean white cloth.Then add it in blender and add 3/4 of water and blend it well till it became fine juice.
STEP : 3
Now strain the almond juice using a clean strainer or white cloth.Add balance water to strainer and strain it properly.Now almond milk is ready.
STEP : 4
Now take three table spoon of cereal powder.The cereal powder can be home made or one available in market as baby food.Cereal powder with multi grain powders and fruit pieces are more tasty and healthy.
STEP : 5
Now add cereal powder to almond milk by continuous stirring till it became the required consistency according to your babies age.
STEP : 6
Now the tasty cereal almond milk is ready.It is good for babies more than six month of age.You can serve the dish as a single time meal or dividing it to different portion according to the quantity your babies consume.Best as a break fast dish.
